Hello Guys
Happy Sunday and New Year as well. This is my first post this year and i know that the year is gradually coming to an end. A lot of things has happened, been happening and have kept me very busy since this year that i kept on procrastinating about been active and dedicative to this. I remember last year November when i originally started this blog, I thought that i was going to have time to upload posts at least not everyday but once every week. But things got way out of hand and i found myself getting occupied with a lot of things that i totally did not have the chance to keep with the blogging appearance (yea rite). Well fast forward to January this year after my postgraduate graduation from the University of Sheffield (wow its been long), I came back to Nigeria first week of February and too many things had happened in my life. Job hunting which proved very very though, the general elections that ushered in the new president, loosing my sweet aunty to cancer and also bad internet services. life has been very tough and sad since I came back, to the extent i regretted why am Nigerian, why I actually back to Nigeria and a whole lot of stuffs ( Well all these will be posted in subsequent time). Seven months down the line and still things are pretty much rough (Forget about the Instagram pictures loll), but i have one thing that am always grateful about and that is life and been able to smile in the mist of all the worries. I had to surrender all my worries to God and having positive thoughts about life in general. I went back to my first love which is God almighty who has always been my rock of ages and then to my church COZA abuja (Commonwealth of Zion Assembly), since then i decided to take things one step at a time.
Conversely Nigeria is though (won't sugar quote it) at all, starting from job hunting especially if you live in abuja is really mind tasking as well, bad internet service and so many other issues. The country is only for a certain group of people and if you do not belong to these group of people, you will find it difficult living in this country. In addition, if you do not have connection, its also difficult getting a job as well. Yes i said so because to be sincere in cities in Abuja, your degree does not really matter (whether from a foreign university or an MBA). I have friends with MBA (Masters in business administration) and especially friends who graduated with distinction as well who are still job hunting or receiving peanuts as salary from their place of work. I call it peanuts because if you a masters degree holder and you schooled abroad either in the United Kingdom or United States of America, you will understand how brain tasking it is. The sleepless night in the library, long hours awake writing 5000 words essay and the rest and then coming back to your own country, only for your employee to pay you peanuts. While some people always give this advice of starting small and the rest, but how can someone that small with little salary with the high cost of living in Nigeria especially in cities like lagos and abuja. Well months after my job search hunting, i decided to take a bold step by starting my own business with a couple of friends. If you follow me on the various social media platforms you would definitely have noticed. We started Celkon Media which is an IT and digital marketing platform with concentration on website designing, social media management and our latest innovation "Augmented Reality" (I will make a post on it soon and upload). However, In simple
term, it is simply a computer immersed world of animation, video, audio and
other life contents within ordinary paper print, used mostly for education,
tabloids, marketing and entertainment and photography. It is a
technology that blends in additional information into an ordinary environment.
This extra information isn’t visible to the ordinary eye, but can be accessed
with an enhanced device (cell phones and tablets). Although am glad that about this new phase and aspect of my life, But still i have come to realise also that been an entrepreneur in Nigeria is also not easy at all. Sometimes I have had moments were I totally wanted to give up but I decided to read books and stories of entrepreneurs who are great right now and their journey to achieving greatness. This alone coupled with prayers gave me hope and believe that one day i will have my own story of starting a business with nothing and growing it into a multinational business and most importantly creating employment as well. One thing that i learnt from my readings is that every entrepreneur has a story and i know that soon mine will be a story to tell. Enough of my stories for now but just have in mind that am pretty much back maybe fully for now. Internet service providers subscription and connection is frustrating here in Nigeria but i will try and upload contents once or twice every week.
